BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty capturing that could have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive College, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Division stated in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive device supplies and threatening to commit a criminal offense which can result in demise or great bodily damage.

Police said they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police didn't say if the teenager was a pupil at Berkeley High College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they found parts to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and electronic gadgets that may very well be used to create additional weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"College security remains a high precedence for the division," police mentioned in an announcement. 

Particulars on whom the teenager was trying to recruit weren't disclosed. Police mentioned this case remains beneath investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens told the school's neighborhood that the district was in shut contact with police throughout this investigation.

"Throughout the investigation period, we have been assured that this particular person did not pose an immediate threat to the Berkeley Excessive School neighborhood."
