Speaking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I really feel better concerning the direction of our nation."

In a blog publish, Kapler questioned whether the nation's leadership is dedicated to representing its people's best pursuits and whether the US is truly "the land of the free and the home of the courageous."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked dad and mom trying to prepare to cost in to stop the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more vital than our kids's freedom to go to high school with no need bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied together with your nation, you let or not it's recognized by way of protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action in opposition to gun violence in the United States.

Kerr refused to discuss basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as an alternative elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the last 10 days, we've had aged Black folks killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now now we have children murdered in school," Kerr told reporters firstly of the press convention.

"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I'm so tired of getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated households which are out there ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Sufficient."
