SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass shooting left six people useless throughout an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital metropolis final month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Investigators consider Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened fire in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condo advanced, the Sacramento Police Division said in an announcement Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Department labored with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the statement stated.

It wasn’t recognized Sunday if Payton has an lawyer who could communicate on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, had been charged this month with murder within the slayings, as well as weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive but mentioned in court paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web-based video hours earlier than the shooting, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory.
