College students walk out of faculties in protest of gun violence

Days after at least 19 elementary college college students and two teachers had been killed in a mass capturing at an elementary college in Uvalde, Texas, students at schools across the nation staged walkouts to protest gun violence.

In Michigan, college students at Oxford High College, where a school taking pictures occurred in November, staged a walkout at 12 p.m. on Thursday. 4 students have been killed within the shooting.

"You see news day by day about children getting shot and folks your age dying and it is just incredibly sad and unbelievable, particularly to see like children youthful and kids my age," Janoff told ABC News. "I cant think about that being me; but it's conceivable as a result of it occurs so often."

The 17 year-old says her college's administration was in help of the walkout and he or she hopes the over 200 planned demonstrations across the nation send a transparent message that college students are a "united front."

A walkout might not necessarily change laws, Janoff said, but these actions show "college students are still united on this."

She said that although most students aren't old enough to vote, they nonetheless need to see change and are keen to take measures to have their voices heard in politics.

"Students don't need to be quiet about it simply because they seem to be a kid," Janoff mentioned.
