A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police reports and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane while waiting on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a statement.

"Our determination is that we are going to not file any fees towards Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no costs be filed in this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't present what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
