KATHMANDU, Nepal -- A Nepali Sherpa broke her own report as probably the most successful female climber of Mount Everest by reaching the summit of the world's highest peak Thursday.

Sherpa, 48, never received a chance to get a formal training as a result of she needed to begin earning a living by carrying climbing gear and provides for trekkers. Thursday's successful ascent was her 10th — probably the most times any girl has climbed Everest — and she has at all times said she needed to encourage all ladies so they too can obtain their goals.

A local of Nepal, Sherpa lives within the U.S. with her three children in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Another Nepalese Sherpa guide, Kami Rita, reached the summit for the 26th time Saturday, breaking his personal report for probably the most climbs of Everest.
