A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities said.
In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening text message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary faculty.
It stated its native school menace enforcement staff was immediately notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace mentioned.
In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led right into a police car.
“This scholar’s habits is sickening, especially after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a press release, noting that the risk came just days after the deadly faculty capturing at Robb Elementary School left 19 students and two academics lifeless.
“Proper now just isn't the time to behave like slightly delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he mentioned. “This little one made a faux risk, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”
