A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities stated.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary college.

It stated its native school risk enforcement staff was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy may be seen being led right into a police automobile.

“This student’s conduct is sickening, especially after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in an announcement, noting that the threat came just days after the lethal college taking pictures at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two academics dead.

“Proper now is not the time to behave like a bit delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This little one made a fake menace, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno said his group “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The comment got here as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Might 24 faculty capturing after it came to gentle that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of instantly moving in on the gunman.
