800 employees resign after company asks them to work from office

As the Covid situation has improved, several companies have already known as their employees to office, ending the work at home (WFH).

Nevertheless, it seems some staff wish to do business from home further. Recently, hundreds of staff have resigned when a company requested them to come back to the workplace.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr employees have resigned from the children online coding learning edtech start-up in the final two months after being requested to work from office.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, requested its workers to return to office within a month’s time, in keeping with an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company announced the policy to finish make money working from home and asked remote employees to return to office by April 18.

The resignations got here from full-time employees of the gross sales, coding, and math teams. Extra workers are expected to put down their papers in the coming months.

One of the staff who resigned told the website that a month’s time was not sufficient for relocation. “Some have kids, some have aged and sick dad and mom, whereas others produce other tasks. It's not right to call back staff in such a brief period of time,” the former WhiteHat Jr employee mentioned.

Another employee said salaries additionally factored in the resolution to not return to the office. On the time of hiring, employees have been told about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has places of work in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Nonetheless, after working from residence for 2 years, employees believed that their salaries needs to be revised to replicate the price of living in expensive cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former employee remarked.
